I will not be able to attend, but this painting of mine will be there. It is called “Pile of Pee Wees”.
This show is shaping up to be pretty great, and I’m not just saying that because I have a piece in it. Heck, if I were anywhere near NYC I’d go just to see a Scott C. watercolor in person.
Hello, tumblr. Click the image above for a peek at one of the new short comics that’ll be in my upcoming book. I colored it for online internet website viewing (The original is painted with gray inkwashes, which is how it will be printed in the book).
Outside of my kickstarter backers, this is the first real glimpse at new comics I’ve offered in about a year.
I love how short and beautiful this comic is, just like Phil McAndrew himself. Very much looking forward to Phil’s new book, which he talks about constantly on Twitter but almost never actually shows anything.
Here’s a little local Vancouver flavour: “Legendary Noodle” by Dave Fletcher. I love that Dave’s been drawing so much stuff in my own neighbourhood (Legendary Noodle is pretty damn delicious btw!). Check out his Flickr feed for tons of great drawings of our loverly city.
I’ve seen Wendy MacNaughton’s work several times before (how have we not blogged you here??) but it wasn’t till I saw it again (this time in the Bold Italic article she illustrated: Living in SF Means…) that I finally visited her website. I just spent about an hour there, ogling hundreds of her beautiful illustrations. Yes: HUNDREDS. I am just now picking my jaw up off the floor. Prolific, effortless, alive, smart, warm, endearing… what we all strive for as illustrators, Wendy achieves in spades.
You know Scott Campbell, right? Scottlava? Showdowns, Double Fine Action Comics, etc? This guy is the best, and a sweetheart happy bro on top of it. Here’s a great example: this Twin Peaks painting is awesome, AND Scott just posted a series of photos of his process, so you can follow along at home. So great!
