Happy new year everybody! I hope you all had wonderful holidays!
Here is the second card for Rotopolpress. It’s not really snowing here anymore (it’s actually quite warm) but I drew this in December when there was snow everywhere.
Kevin Dart is now on Tumblr, and he’s posting a series of “Colouroids”:
I am starting a new exercise which I hope to do at least once a week. My plan is to take photos of little scenes whenever I am out around the city, and then bring them home to do small color study paintings. I’m hoping it will improve my sense of light and color. They will all be done in a square format to limit the number of things I have to worry about.

Gabriel Dawe makes magically colourful works of art with thread. Read about him on Triangulation blog (one of my new favourites).
Color and Light by James Gurney
I received a review copy of James Gurney’s new book Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter and read it within 24 hours. It’s as informative and essential as his previous book, Imaginative Realism, and I highly recommend them both.
I should note I’m not a realist painter, but the lessons and examples in the book are instructive to artists of all stripes. I can’t wait to use some of the principles that are so much clearer to me now.
The art of colouring comics has come a long way.
