Loving this beautiful poster of my city by local illustrator/cartoonist Edward Juan. Also, I love finding out about new talent in town!

Illustrator Dyna Moe (previously with the Mad Men Illustrated) has a very hilarious (and still as yet on-going) set of The 12 Days of Christmas featuring her Hipster Animals.
(By the way, she’s got a Tumblr. Follow her now.)
While I’m at it Guillaume Decaux deserves his own post as well. Not only is he a fine artist with incredible breadth, but his blog is a continual source of inspiration. Peppered among posts of his own sketches and drawings are the works of many other amazing artists who inspire and inform his own work.
Decaux is an editorial artist out of (you guessed it) France.
Jim Madsen is a self taught illustrator based out of Utah. While most of his work seems to be for clients and picture books, he’s recently started a blog where he’s posting personal work, like the one above.
The problem with sharing Yoko Tanji’s work is how do you pick just one or two images to share? Yoko is an illustrator out of Tokyo and her work has me mesmerized. I love the lines, the textures, the colors, the shapes, everything.
If Don Bluth and Chuck Jones spawned a son and gave him a tablet you’d get Cory Loftis. Cory is a visual development artist for Walt Disney Animation. Before that he was lead artist for Carbine a video game company out of southern California. The game Wildstar is very much influenced by his style. Lots more funny, kinetic, and down-right-appealing art on his blog.
Romain Mennetrier is a freelance illustrator based in Grenoble, France. His work is a beautiful balance of illustrative and graphic sensibilities…and I love it!
Blog.
Two handy font plugins in one week??! What are the odds!
The free FontShop Plugin lets you preview any of our 150,000 fonts, in the context of your own artwork in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator (CS5, CS5.5 and CS6). This is a great new way to find the perfect typographic fit for your project.
Ramon Pla’s Pinocchio is amazing. I love his vision of the little wooden boy and his world drawn for a storybook app. Pla is an illustrator out of Spain who does children’s books, illustration, character design, and art toys. And pretty much everything he does is gold. Check him out:
Willie Real is a illustrator and animation concept artist based out of San Francisco. He spent 5 years at Blue Sky Studios developing characters and environments on films such as Horton Hears A Who, Ice Age, Rio, and Epic. Recently he’s been doodling for one of those internet start ups. Lots more work on his blog.
Jemma Salume has been a delight in my rss feeds for a about a year now. I love her crisp linework, color choices, and overall graphic sensibilities.
SO SO SO much fabulous stuff in Nick Iluzada’s portfolio. He has no trouble playing with various styles and really knows how to use colour.
